Centrifugal Exhaust Fans

Blowers for hot, greasy and dirty exhaust, where a standard fan would fail early.

Overview

Exhaust duty is where fans die young. Grease coats the impeller and unbalances it, hot gas cooks the bearing, and dust erodes the blade tips. A fan chosen on airflow alone will do the job for a while and then vibrate, slow down or seize.

Centrifugal exhaust fans handle this better than axial types because the motor can sit outside the airstream and the impeller can be built for the temperature. Kitchen units are arranged for access and cleaning; boiler units are built for flue gas temperature and, where required, for a motor position that stays cool.

This range covers kitchen extract, boiler and oven draft, and industrial exhaust. Tell us the gas temperature, what the air carries, and how often it can be cleaned. Those three answers decide the housing, the impeller and the motor position — before the airflow figure is even discussed.

Why Buy From WILMALL

Temperature and cleaning asked first

Gas temperature and cleaning access decide the model family. Airflow comes after, because a fan that cannot be cleaned will not hold its duty.

Motor outside the hot stream

Where the gas is hot, the motor is arranged outside the airstream. We confirm which models support that arrangement.

Materials matched to the duty

Grease, condensate and abrasive dust each point to a different housing and impeller. We flag where a standard build will fail early.

Where It Fits

Commercial kitchen extract

Grease-laden air from hoods and canopies, with access for cleaning and a discharge away from intakes.

Boiler and oven flue draft

Hot gas at a controlled draft, where the fan holds pressure against the flue and the motor stays cool.

Industrial exhaust

Dust, vapour or process air from a machine or a tank, at moderate pressure.

How to Specify

Gas temperature, not room temperature

A flue at 200 °C and a kitchen hood at 60 °C need different bearings, insulation and motor positions. State the temperature at the fan inlet and whether it is continuous or intermittent.

Cleaning access decides service life

Kitchen fans need the impeller reached and cleaned. A unit that must be dismantled to clean will not be cleaned, and the imbalance that follows destroys the bearing. Check access before the model.

Grease, condensate and corrosion

Kitchen extract leaves a greasy film; flue gas can condense acid. Housing material, coating and drain provision matter as much as airflow. In stainless-steel kitchens, a painted housing is the wrong choice.

Discharge position

Exhaust must not re-enter the building through an intake or a window. Check the discharge height and direction, and add a guard or cowl where needed.

Noise and vibration

Exhaust fans are often the loudest unit on site. A flexible connector, anti-vibration mounts and a straight discharge section reduce both noise and the vibration that loosens fixings.

Questions

Can this fan be used for a kitchen hood?

Yes, where it is specified for grease and can be cleaned. Cleaning intervals are part of the duty, not an afterthought.

What temperature can it take?

It depends on the model, the bearing and the motor position. Give us the gas temperature and duty cycle; we confirm the limit for the specific unit.

Is it fire-rated?

Only models with a specific certificate are. We do not claim a fire rating without documentation. If the project requires one, tell us the standard at inquiry stage.

Where should the motor sit?

Outside the hot airstream for high-temperature duty. That arrangement is confirmed per model and affects the housing design.

How often does the impeller need cleaning?

It follows the grease load. Check vibration after cleaning; uneven removal unbalances the wheel more than an even coating.

Send the gas temperature and what the air carries.

Grease, dust, condensate and heat each change the answer. Two sentences about the duty are enough for us to narrow the range.
