Overview
Sleeve bearings are the low-noise, low-cost option in DC fans. A lubricated sleeve carries the shaft with fewer moving parts than a ball bearing, which shows up as lower sound pressure at low and medium speed.
The trade is durability in heat and in vertical mounting. This series is intended for enclosures that sit horizontally, run at moderate ambient and do not need the fan to survive years of continuous duty at high temperature.
Where it fits
- Consumer and office equipment
- Audio and video enclosures
- Small cabinets in air-conditioned rooms
- Intermittent-duty equipment

Selection and installation notes
If the fan will run continuously, sit vertically or work above normal room temperature, choose the ball bearing range instead. A sleeve bearing that dries out becomes noisy before it fails.
Mounting angle matters more than the data sheet suggests. Confirm the intended orientation before ordering, especially on door-mounted panels.
FAQ
When should I avoid sleeve bearings?
In high ambient temperature, vertical mounting or continuous duty. In those conditions a ball bearing fan lasts longer and stays quieter over its life.
Are 12 V and 24 V versions available?
Yes, both appear in the specification table with their airflow and noise figures.
Is it quieter than a ball bearing fan?
At low speed, usually yes. The advantage narrows as speed and temperature rise, and disappears once the sleeve begins to wear.
Can it be repaired?
No. Fans in this class are replaced as a unit; the bearing is not serviceable.
