Overview

A metal guard does two jobs: it keeps fingers and tools away from the blades, and it protects the impeller from knocks during handling and service. This range covers the common axial frame sizes in plated steel.

Wire thickness and mesh pitch change with the size. Small guards use finer wire so the mesh stays open; larger guards use heavier wire to keep rigidity across a wide span.

Where it fits

  • Cabinet and panel fans
  • Machine enclosures with accessible fans
  • Wall-mounted exhaust
  • Equipment shipped with the impeller exposed

Selection and installation notes

Match the fixing centres, not the nominal size. Two fans of the same size can have different hole spacing.

Where dust is present, a filter guard is usually the better choice than a plain mesh: the mesh stops fingers, not particles.

FAQ

How do I choose the guard size?

Measure the fan frame and the distance between fixing holes, then match both. Nominal size alone is not enough.

Is the guard plated?

Yes, the standard finish is plated steel. Confirm if the installation needs a different finish for corrosive air.

Can it be used outdoors?

Plated steel will eventually corrode outdoors. For exposed installations, ask about a different material or a coated guard.

Does it restrict airflow?

Some, depending on mesh density. It is usually small compared with a filter, but confirm if the airflow margin is tight.
